Entertainment or Truth?

After working all day for a company that gambles for profit at the expense of polluting the planet, the last thing we want to do at night is seek the truth of things. We're tired, hungry, and we deserve a reward for our hard work and loyalty to the system.

Enter: Entertainment!

Let's ignore the effect of our company's actions on the health of the planet and watch fiction and advertising on TV! It's fun. It feels exciting and relaxing at the same time. Let the dopamine flow! I can share it with my friends and family. We can all eat popcorn together. Heck, we might even see my company's ads on tv! Won't that be fun. We can talk about the complex interrelationships and dynamic actions of the characters. But please let's avoid the truth. I don't want to know that the reason I'm watching the show is because the network can sell advertising to the gambling wall-street company that is actively working to create new opportunities to exploit poor people or that all insurance companies are actually gambling to make a profit at our expense. Don't tell me that I'm spending $5/month to watch this channel and they're still going to bombard me with advertising at the expense of huge corporations knowing my hedonistic tendencies will succumb to their subconscious manipulation techniques and I'll probably end up spending more of my hard earned money on their planned obsolescence products in the future again and again because I trust the brand. Even though deep down I know that treating money like a game will only breed a never-ending quest for higher levels of accepted greed and an unsustainable socio-economic system, I'll keep consuming to avoid the truth. I'm confident they'll keep producing more Entertainment for my truth-avoiding nights!

End:  Sarcasm!

Ok, all joking aside, we know there are big questions in the world that need solutions.  If you have any awareness of global events, and you want to live in a world guided by love, you know the Shit is hitting the fan right now!  So, what does the world need?  More people spending time in comment threads sharing their witty advice?  No.  What does the world need?  You to get more subscribers to your channel?  No.

What does the world need?  It’s a great practice to ask yourself this question every time you wake up (after expressing some gratitude for waking of course!)

IF you want more love in your world, Be love.  Love the whole world like a mother loves her only child.  How many t.v. shows make this their moral message?  How many t.v. shows reinforce the non-loving idea that you should only care for your immediate family, and eff everyone else?  Just look at ozark and yellowstone.  These are horribly non-loving messages being sent to your subconscious to sell ads.  We could go down the list of video games in the same way.  The vast majority of entertainment available on screens reinforces non-loving values.  Is your entertainment guided by love?  Be truthful with yourself…and as a great person once said, “seek not to be entertained.”
